An active, engaging and practical teambuilding event which can have a charity aspect added.
Many communities in developing countries like Africa don’t have easy access to clean drinking water. They must walk kilometres each day with heavy jugs on their heads, just to collect muddy water from puddles or rivers. This water is then used to drink, wash dishes, and sanitize their bodies. The water is filled with bacteria, parasites, and waste that can cause a variety of debilitating diseases including malaria and cholera. As a result, thousands of people die every day from avoidable diseases caused by contaminated water.
Using this scenario, the pipeline activity simulates the building of a pipeline from a water source across different regions, with different teams working in each of the regions, but having to connect their part of the pipeline to others, and each team having different challenges, but needing to coordinate, collaborate and negotiate with their connecting teams for the whole pipeline to work once water is added at the source or beginning of the pipeline..
We normally have around 16 – 20 people per Pipeline, with four “regions” in each pipeline. Each “region” is a team of 4 – 5 people. The competition element comes from having different pipelines, being both around timing, quality and teamwork. It’s high energy, about working toward a common goal, competitive & fun.
You can add a charity element to the event, by paying an extra $500.00, which is used to pay for an actual filter which is supplied through the Water Works programme to an actual village. Once this is installed through the programme, you are able to track your filter and see where it has been installed. We will have an example of the filter at the event.
With this event, there is an opportunity to tailor the scenario and the makeup of the teams to reflect what you want out of it for your company or team. We run the event indoors in a large hall or warehouse.
Time: About 2 – 3 hours
Group Size: up to 60 people (3 Pipelines)
